Chris and Sam have been working closely with Kristine from KC Assistance to launch her business idea of outsourced business support, including the management of marketing and communications.

Who are you and what is KC Assistance?
I am Kristine Ceirane, freelance Personal Assistant/Office Administrator in North Norfolk. I am based in Cromer with easy access to surrounding villages and Norwich. My services are aimed at companies that need an extra pair of hands every now and then but cannot offer regular hours. I can help with the important yet time consuming tasks such as paperwork, maintenance of social media accounts, customer communication, marketing campaigns, et cetera. I work hard and feel proud when I see a business growing thanks to my efforts. Also, I can provide a much needed break for small business owners who need some time off but cannot afford for customer enquiries to go unanswered.

What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to be a freelancer before it went mainstream as I am not a 9 to 5 person. It excites me to work with different people, companies and projects. I have had a few jobs where I was contracted to be in office Monday to Friday even if there was nothing to do. I was bored stiff and it cost the company money. That was not good. I prefer to be around when there is work that needs doing and use my time efficiently: a win-win situation for both parties.

What experience do you have in that sector/market?
I have worked in different fields and acquired valuable skills in each. Project Management. Application submission, budgeting, implementation, final reports – I have done it all! Customer Service – from simple enquiries to complaints, I have seen a lot. You would need to try really hard to surprise me. Hospitality: I have freelanced for a luxury serviced apartments company, worked at and once tried a live in job at a hotel on a tiny island in Scotland. Field Marketing – I have been Brand Ambassador, part of a roadshow crew and also done store checks and auditing. Marketing is crucial to get noticed these days as there are so many products and services on the market. Cutting out noise and separating wheat from chaff can take a lot of time – I am here to help!

What skills are you hoping to develop over the next 12 months to support your business?
SEO, that is the most important one. In this day and age people mostly search for businesses online and rarely look past the second page of Google Search. Anyone who wants to be visible needs to know how. Another important thing for me is networking. I want to meet business owners, promote myself, share my experiences and learn from others. The next important skill is website building as I will need a website later. Familiarising myself to various productivity software (Asana, etc.) comes fourth. I myself use Trello board, however, I cannot expect that everyone else will be happy to use it.

What are you hoping to achieve in the next 12 months?
Organic growth. I value quality over quantity and do not want to bite off more than I can chew. Ideally, I would like to work with a few businesses long term as it would be more efficient for both sides. I want to establish my reputation as a professional who helps businesses to grow. Any business working with me would put a lot of trust in me – it is a great honour but also a great responsibility! When they think of me, I want them to think that working with KC Assistance was one of the best decisions they ever made
