The Hethel Innovation team has proudly seen that the idea that Daniela, Carolina and Philip initially had, has grown and that they recently launched their business. We recently had a chat with Daniela and this is what she told us.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT IS THE ART OF BEING WOMEN?
DANIELA M NATES, a Colombian lawyer from Externado de Colombia University with a LL.M from the University of East Anglia. More than 4 years of experience in sales, and client care. Well versed in international business/commercial law and in investment law. Additionally, well-developed marketing, negotiation and public relations skills.
The idea of THE ART OF BEING WOMEN was born at UEA in the Easter of 2018. The co-founders and directors Daniela M Nates and Carolina Cantero after years of friendship and sharing many experiences at Uni life realised how bad online content can be and how reduced is the information. In order to find one useful tip that improves their daily life they have to search in 1000 sites. Also, they research how un-environmentally-friendly the beauty products still are, and how they are still showing a stereotype of beauty.
Then these two women with different careers realised how even nowadays it is difficult to not be stereotyped into one or other “women” role. So, by the end of 2018 when Daniela was finishing her post-grad studies and Carolina was going to her final year, they started what is today their online magazine. Connecting with many colleagues all over the word that pursue different careers the content for the magazine started growing, and through this process Philipp Nikusev arrived, a graduate in Accounting that was captivated by the idea of improving women’s lives by creating content and getting into the cosmetics business world. Therefore, becoming the CFO of the company. Nowadays the three of them, and a team of 14 writers, two contributors (TRAZO Co & Amatista ltd) and two advisers (The Enterprise Centre UEA & Hethel Innovation) are developing the project of THE ART OF BEING WOMEN.
THE ART OF BEING WOMEN is a Brand with the aim to improve people’s lives and make a contribution to society – today and in the future by empowering and inspiring women all over the word. Helping women feel beautiful as they are and assist them to be better in their area of preference.
The Art of Being a woman means to be unique and potentiate your qualities, the qualities that make you special. And that is why our brand focus in two main sectors: The educational sector and the Beauty products sector:
- In the educational sector we are running an online magazine: www.artbwomen.com
However, the articles of the magazine cannot go deeply into detail and as independent, strong, creative, kick-ass and just overall amazing women, we demand great content but also a teacher or a tutor to guide us. And that is why we are developing online seminars created by experts that will cover to detail different fields of expertise, all this content could be found under the brand of ARTBWomen Academy by the end of 2020.
- For the Beauty products: Under the brand of ARTBW we are developing the first brand cosmetics.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
As a child I found out that life only makes sense if you work to help others, to make this world a better place. This was the ideal that directed me towards the study of Law, because I wish to see our society changing, I like to work for equality, remove boundaries, and seek cooperation over competence.
I think the idea to be your own boss but at the same time work for others was what drove me to be an entrepreneur. I would say passion is the most important trait of the successful entrepreneur. You must genuinely love your work. You must be willing to put in those extra hours to make the business succeed because there is a joy your business gives which goes beyond the money. Successful entrepreneurs want to see what the view is like at the top of the business mountain. Once they see it, they want to go further. They know how to talk to their employees, and their businesses soar as a result.

Strategic thinking. Learning to decompose a problem to its core and reveal opportunities for growth.
Branding. Building a consistent personal and business brand tailored to the right audience. Igniting brand awareness in new verticals.
Sales. Being comfortable doing outreach and creating new business opportunities.
Accounting. Tax and business accounting.
