New General Data Protection Regulations… How can you get prepared?
New General Data Protection Regulations come into force on the 25th May. This may require you to make changes within your organisation. Below are a few steps you can take to help your organisation get prepared.

Research the new GDPR guidelines so that you understand your company’s obligations and responsibilities regarding handling and processing data.
Check your procedures to make sure that individuals’ rights are covered, including how you would delete or provide personal data
Monitor and review where your data is stored
Consider hiring a data protection officer or representative. You may be required to do this depending on your business
Create a data protection plan in case there is an emergency
Make sure that the key people in your organisation are aware of GDPR and the impact it will have
Update any privacy notices so they include new information required by GDPR
Assess all your systems that are used by data controllers/processors for any potential risks and decide if its time for an upgrade
Be prepared to detect, investigate, and report and personal data breach. You may also have to notify anyone affected by the breach
